Aluminum sheet for automobiles

Automobile lightweighting can be broadly classified into four categories: body lightweighting, engine lightweighting, chassis lightweighting, and heat exchange system lightweighting. The common goal of all these is to reduce the vehicle weight while maintaining performance, by using lighter materials, thereby achieving energy conservation and environmental protection functions. 

Main products of automotive lightweighting 

1. Lightweight aluminum for car underbody guard plates, car air tank, and car roof panels: 5083, 5754, 5052 alloy aluminum sheets, etc. 

2. Lightweight aluminum for automotive fuel tanks and spare parts: 5052 alloy aluminum sheets, etc. 

3. Lightweighting of automotive batteries using aluminum: 3003 alloy aluminum plates for water cooling plates/battery shells, 5182 alloy aluminum plates for battery covers, 5083 alloy aluminum plates for battery side plates, 1060 aluminum plates for battery soft connections, and 1235 aluminum foil for batteries, etc. 

4. The engine heat shield of the car is made of 1060 aluminum foil and other materials. 

Advantages of aluminum materials for automotive lightweighting: 

1. The weight loss effect is remarkable. The density of aluminum is only one-third that of iron. 

2. Significant energy saving. The use of aluminum can reduce the vehicle's weight by 10%. For every 100 kilograms of weight reduction in the car, the fuel consumption per 100 kilometers can be decreased by 0.4 liters. 

3. Improved recyclability. The recycling loss of recycled aluminum is only about 5%, and its re-recycling rate is higher than that of commonly used metals.
